the purpose of this photo series is two fold:
- to establish a model demonstrating the pervasiveness of consumerism in modern photography.
- to destroy this model by any means necessary.
humanity doesn’t need beer, you don’t need cigarettes, I don’t need soda, and surely no one need junk food. But if you walk down the street, open a magazine, turn on a TV, interact with society in any form and advertisements are there to tell you otherwise.
Brands, images, and lifestyles are built by bozos with BA’s in marketing and yuppies with fashion startups. 'marketing campaigns' are for don draper. The modern man in the modern world requires something more: 'propaganda'. Photographs are the execution of propaganda and the photographer is the executioner.
So you tell me: BUY THIS SHIT. or buy this shit?
